![]() It's like watching a massive and complex machine meticulously constructed over many years and then when it is finally finished and switched on all it does is ring a bell. There are no explanations for the atypical behavior of major characters in the previous episodes. One or two technical details are "resolved", but many major plot points are just left hanging or unanswered. In short, the episode didn't make logical or thematic sense.įinally, the last episode, The Iron Throne, was basically empty. ![]() Instead we get the cities fleet and defenses quickly defeated by a dragon, then character after character doing things that don't make sense and are completely against their (until this season) carefully constructed personalities. The climactic battle of two massive armies. The next episode, The Bells, is rightly considered to be the worst in the entire run of the series. Seems like there might have been a story or two there. Of course, we don't really see any of that bit. Why does this episode even exist? Oh yeah, to move the largest army ever assembled from point A to point B. The horrible sea loss doesn't appear to ultimately cost the losers much of anything (I guess they didn't need that fleet) and the people that hook up seem to forget about it next week. Actually, a whole bunch happens, there's a big sea battle (apparently because Daenerys forgot about Euron and his fleet), major characters hook up, but literally none of it has any effect on the next episode. Next we have The Last of the Starks, where almost nothing happens. Frankly, this episode was the high point of the next four. Bad fan fiction, written by someone who had neither read the books or watched any of the previous episodes of the show. Starting with The Long Night, where we watch battle hardened soldiers and experienced leaders make ridiculously amateurish mistakes and completely out-of-character bad decisions, culminating in that awful deus ex machina finale. ![]() The final 4 episodes are atrociously and inexcusably bad. While I think the later seasons of GoT (5-7) started to suffer, the show was still well made and reasonably well written, it just started to lack direction.Ĭonsisting of 6 episodes, the first two are largely dominated by world-building and, while a bit slow, aren't terrible so much as boring. They are also quite adept at adapting content for the screen.īut they cannot write an ending or resolve a plot to save their lives. I would agree that Benioff and Weiss can produce a show, even excel at it. Know any others? Message #scifi and let your friendly mods know!
